Holding Space
Chiropractic is a diverse field. It is not as simple as “cracking backs.”
What we do is analyze each individual who lays on our table. We look at their posture, the way their body moves, we listen to the language and words spoke, we listen to the tone of their body, we seek to find answers to help restore health.
The adjustment must be accurate and specific. We spend hours and hours training vectors, line of drive, shape of vertebrae (they vary throughout the spine), nervous system, and functionality. We discuss and go deeper into the cause of the dysfunction for people who lay on our tables.
Then we put our hands gently in the spot and put a much needed thrust into the spine to create better function in the nervous system.
On the visits, we hold space. We hear the concerns, the stresses, and the history of experiences. Body work is not as simple as just a thrust. Chiropractic requires a deeper connection and a space for healing; Healing of trauma, stress. We must allow for evolution of a soul to take place.
Humans cannot heal the body without healing the mind. The mind cannot heal without affecting the body. It is a cycle and connection that cannot be separated.
What many people do not realize about our profession is the emotional work that is also put into the adjustment and experience.
For our patients, we are more than happy to hold the space, to work through the experience that we call life. For we truly believe in healing.
A patient’s healing process is a long journey. We our honored when we get to walk with them on that journey. We hope many people in the future learn the benefits of not just chiropractic on decreasing back pain, but on increasing the healing process through proper care and space.
