Healthy Back to School

It is exciting to be back in school, finally. It also is a little scary for many families to be back in the school after a year of virtual learning.

We can’t have control over a lot of life, but we do have more control than we realize over our health and the health of our children. So here are a few tips to get back into a healthy routine with the kiddos.

  • Have a bed time routine: Consistency is key to getting good sleep. Turning off all electronics an hour before bed helps the brain prepare for sleep. If you are on a magnesium supplement, an hour before bed is a great time to take it. Have a set bedtime and stick with it.

  • Have dinner together. At least once, a week set up a time to have a family dinner where the kids can share about their day or week. Let them be excited about school and all the possibilities that come with learning.

  • Setting aside time for play: Play is important for learning of all ages. With the weather still being nice, getting time for the kids to go outside and just run and be free without work helps them do better in school and be more productive.

  • Get regular chiropractic care: Chiropractic care is so important for the nervous system of our children. The nervous system is the communication and regulation system of the body. Kids under regular chiropractic care report having a decrease in ear aches, less allergies, less headaches, and decrease anxiety. They also report better sleep and and behavior.

  • Increase vegetable and fruit in their diet. It is easy to get into a junk food habit when routines of the family get busy. Planning healthy snacks and meals helps with cognitive function of the kids, and emotional health.
